Weekly update--new produce additions!

What's new outside?? Summer produce harvest has begun!! New red skin potatoes, candy onions, seedless cucumbers, and summer squash are all of the availability list this week! Why don't you check out our short slide show--some fresh pictures of the farm in late June!
HARVEST SHAK - The Harvest Shak is open every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10-7. The first supply of dry goods will be in the Shak Friday and Saturday - healthy pastas, flours and sweeteners. You'll also find whole grain sprouted pretzels - a great snack! We encourage pre-orders, especially for prepared food items (soups, salads, quiche, meat pies, etc.) to be sure you get the items you want. For directions to The Shak click here scroll to the bottom of the page and look for the bubble in the middle of the map.Where to find us: Tuesdays from 2-6 in Boalsburg at PA Military Museum, click on the logo above to find out more about the outdoor farmers' market! If you have never visited this market it is a great way to spend an afternoon--lots of vendors and plenty of free parking. Fridays we make deliviers for pre-orders in the parking lot between Uncle Joe's Woodshed and Everything Natural in Altoona from 3:00-3:30. Orders may also be picked up at the Harvest Shak Wednesday, Fridays or Saturdays from 10-7. Please remember that orders for Tuesday/Wednesday need to be placed by noon on Monday, and Friday/Saturday orders are due by Wednesday evening.
Here's what we've got this week:
CARNIVORES CORNER:
Chicken: A processing date has been scheduled! July 3rd we will have the chickens at our farm ready for your 4th of July parties! Pick up times will be between 6 and 7:30 p.m.. We will have them available fresh at the market on July 6th, but anything picked up after then will be frozen. As of right now, we have more than 1/2 of this flock sold, so we are strongly suggesting pre-orders!
Beef: Grass Fed English Aged Angus is now available year-round.
We are finalizing orders for this round of beef, so if you are thinking about ordering, it should be available later in July. We are accepting orders for 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 3/4 or whole portions. Extra lean hamburger is available weekly in 1 pound packages for $5 per pound. Order 10 pounds or more for $4.50 per pound. The beef comesvacuum sealed and frozen.
From the field: New red skin potatoes, seedless cucumbers, candy onions, summer squash (green and yellow), beets, sugar snap peas, lettuce mix, collards, kale, oregano, basil, fresh mint, chives, and fresh garlic. The Hericot Vert (French green beans) should be ready in 1 to 2 weeks!
From the kitchen: Tarts (crusts made with organic spelt): Strawberry rhubarb- made with our strawberries and rhubarb and blueberry - made with fresh local blueberries. Sprouted Scones: Dark Chocolate Chip/Almond, Orange Ginger. Sprouted Cookies/Bars: Shortbread Cookies, Oatmeal Fruit Nut Bars - made with local freshly frozen fruits . Sprouted Flatbreads: Tomato/Garlic/Onion, Asiago/Parmesan Herb and Sesame/Garlic. Sprouted Breads: Poppyseed Spelt, Cinnamon Raisin Walnut (spelt), cinnamon raisin nut bagels and pita bread
(4 pack).
Chocolate Pecan Torte: Made with dark chocolate, free range eggs, NO FLOUR. Similar, but a bit more decadent, to a moist brownie.
Roasted Potato and Garlic Soup - made with our just-dug red potatoes and fresh garlic!
Tomato Basil Parmesan Pies: Made with organic spelt crust, fresh local tomatoes and Eden View basil with a parmesan sauce. Comes in a moderate individual size - heat in oven for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees until center is warm.
Zucchini Crimini Mushroom Quiche: Sold in individual size portions.
Stuffed Sprouted Pitas: tomato/basil/feta, potato cheddar, spinach ricotta and leek mushroom. Heat for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees - makes a great compliment to soup or salad, or they can stand alone as a meal or a snack - great for lunches.
Hummus: Spinach Feta or Azuki AnchoChili (mild): Made with organic beans
Spelt Berry Apple Salad: a refreshing salad that's power packed with healthy stuff! Made with sprouted spelt and kamut berries, apples, raisins and walnuts.
Tabouleh - a great grain salad made with bulgar, tomatoes, cucumbers, scallions - tossed in a lemon viniagrette.
Nutty Date Snack Bites: A yummy crunch of brazil nuts and cashews bundled in a soft raw honey date and flax mixture, rolled in toasted sesame seeds - a true energy snack! Sold 2 in a pack
Dip: Spinach Parmesan
Pancake Mix: 1) Organic spelt or 2) Organic sprouted spelt and oats
Nutty Berry Mix Granola
Sprouts: sandwich
Kombucha Tea: Apricot, wild berry, ginger, mint
