Ukraine update

Posted 6/26/2010 1:04pm by Eric.

Well, we are moving forward with the Ukranian orphanage partnership.  It has been a very successful week, but there is still plenty more to do!  So far, 10 of 20 kids have host homes for the visit, and many of those homes are folks who are ready to adopt--some of the others are even considering the adoption process.  But, there has been a "snag" in the program!  Unfortunately, the province will only allow 10 of their children to come to the states at once, so there will be group of 10 more coming from another province.  We should have complete bio's in these kids early next week, but this is a younger group of kids, thier ages range from 7-13.

If you would consider hosting a child, please feel free to contact us or Russ and Lori Walk at questhavenlodge@aol.com.  Remember that hosting doesn't mean you are considering adoption, it just means that you are willing to give the child a home for their stay so they might be able to meet some prospective parents.

Here is a picture and a bio of the little guy that will be visiting us for the 2 weeks!

Dmytro – Age 9

Dmytro Rastupnyak
DOB 05/16/2001
2004 Dema was placed in the orphanage (3 years old!)

Dema’s motor skill development is slightly behind, and he has been identified as having a “lazy eye”. The older children especially boys often target him to pick on, therefore he shies away from all groups where older children are involved choosing to play alone. He is a nice boy, very calm, meek and mild--he is good kid but has low self-confidence.
