Weekly Update

We apologize for being late once again - we returned late last evening from taking a 2 day break. I met up with Eric and Dema, as well as my daughter's family and my daughter-in-law and boys in Natural Bridge VA. We saw the magnificent natural bridge made of stone, the Monacan Indian village, the Natural Bridge cavern. We drove through a safari park with 1,000 animals on an 180 acre farm. The weather was beautiful, the food good and the time away was greatly needed and very refreshing.
My time in SC the preceeding 5 days was great as well. We worked on homes, gave food to families, and ran an after school program for about 30 children and youth. The weather was stormy all week - more rain than in all the16 years I've been going there, but thankfully the storms came after our work days had ended. The temperatures on the other hand have never been as bearable for an August - mid 80s vs. high 90s.
It's now back to the farm and our normal routine. I'm ready to get back in the kitchen, however, since I've been away there will be a few items that won't be on the table this week, but only a few. You can tell it's nearing the end of the harvest season as parts of the garden are being readied for next season. We are still having trouble with our many plantings of greens, but as the temperatures stay a bit cooler, they will hopefully get back on track. We've got lots of other goodies. The weather looks awesome for this week, so it will be a great day to come visit us at the market - Tuesday, Boalsburg Military Museum parking lot, 2-6 p.m.
Where to find us: Tuesdays from 2-6 p.m. at the Boalsburg firehall. Every other Wednesday we make deliveries for pre-orders in the parking lot between Uncle Joe's Woodshed and Everything Natural in Altoona from 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. NEXT DELIVERY DATE IS AUGUST 22. Orders can also be picked up here at our farm, preferably on Wednesdays.
