Our next round of chickens will be processed tomorrow. Our regular processor is back up and running for the season, so this rouns will be vacuum packed and a higher quality. This round will also be back to our regular 4-6 pound range--the warmth makes more than the plants grow!! If you have pre-ordered chickens and want them fresh, you may pick them up here at our house on Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., or at the Boalsburg market on Tuesday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. or in Altoona on Wednesday from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. Any chickens not pre-ordered will be frozen on Monday.
We're gearing up for the start of our outdoor Boalsburg market on May 17th in the military museum parking lot. This market is a great place to come on Tuesday afternoons - a large variety of all local produce, homemade foods, breads, cheeses, meats, soap, flowers . . . along with some great local musicians serenading the customers!
In response to customer requests, we will begin to accept Visa, MasterCard, and Americam Express. This will start Monday for the chicken orders that are being picked up here at the farm, then once we start the Boalsburg market outside on the 17th we will accept them there.
ALL ORDERS will need to be received by late Sunday evening for delivery at our Tuesday market and for our Altoona deliveries. Orders may also be picked up at our farm on Wednesdays when convenient.
HARVEST SHAK - The Shak will be open in early June on WEDNESDAYS from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. We will be evaluating this as the weeks pass and may increase the hours if able. All of our products will still be available by pre-orders which can be picked up at our house or at the Shak.
Where to find us: We're INDOORS from 2-6 at THE BOALSBURG FIREHALL, click on the logo above to find out more about the indoor farmers' market. If you have never visited this market it is a great way to spend an afternoon--lots of vendors and plenty of free parking. Wednesdays we make deliveries for pre-orders in the parking lot between Uncle Joe's Woodshed and Everything Natural in Altoona from 3:00-3:30 p.m. Orders can also be picked up here at our farm, preferably on Wednesdays.
Beef: We are calling in our order for the next beef to be processed today! The grass has been green for a few weeks now, so this will be an excellant round! There are a few 1/8ths left so please order soon! We sell the beef in 1/8th, 1/4th, 1/2 or by the whole animal. The cost is $3.60/lb hanging weight and the price includes vacuum packaging. Burger is available each week for $5.00/lb. - 10 or more lbs. for $4.50/lb.

From the field: Spring mix, spring garlic, and mint.
Chocolate Pecan Torte: Made with dark chocolate, free range eggs, NO FLOUR. Similar, but a bit more decadent, to a moist brownie.
Meat Pies: Beef & Broccoli in Mushroom Sauce - Made with organic spelt crust, pastured meats with a whole grain parmesan crust. Comes in a moderate individual size - heat in oven for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees until center is warm.
Apple Pecan Chicken Salad: Made with our chickens (of course), local apples, celery and pecans tossed in our homemade dressing.
Sesame, Poppyseed and Flax Spelt Crackers: Made with organic spelt flour, farm fresh butter, local yogurt, poppyseeds, flax seeds, and sesame seeds.
Dark Chocolate Truffles: Almond or peanut butter
Nutty Berry Mix Granola Products from local partners: free range eggs, grass-fed burger

Chickens: Starting in June, we'll be processing every two weeks - we encourage you to pre-order to be sure to get them. Due to a 30% increase in feed and a 10% increase in chick prices, we have had to raise the price to $3.25/pound. (Average increase will be $1 per chicken)

From the kitchen: Desserts & Breads: Sprouted Scones: Dark Chocolate Chip/Almond, Orange Ginger (minimum order: 4). Sprouted Cookies/Bars: Shortbread Cookies, Oatmeal Date Nut Bars. Sprouted Flatbreads: Garlic herb pizza crust, mushroom onion foccacia - this is a thick flatbread that can be used as a dipping bread, toasted and used with soup or pasta or as a thick pizza crust. Sprouted Bagels (minimum order: 8): Poppyseed spelt, Cinnamon Raisin Walnut spelt. Sprouted Pita bread - 4 pack.
